Another character loyal to Oden’s dream... It seems that most of Wano’s problems stem from infighting, lack of education, and unequal wealth/goods distribution rather than lack of outside knowledge or resources. I understand Wano is supposed to be a parallel to Edo Japan, but what good does opening up borders do when the country itself is unstable and most of its inhabitants are impoverished and live under a fairly strict social hierarchy? Oden has impressive feats, but I don’t understand why other characters just want to “open Wano’s borders” vs “let’s make Wano a better country (which means eventually opening up its borders and figuring out the best way to do so)”. Overthrowing Orochi is definitely a step toward improving Wano, but what exactly is the step after that? Why has no one thought about it? Maybe I’m just dense in the head and overthinking everything or forgot stuff from the flashback chapters.

You are asking too much for a story where illegitimate royals are praised instead of overthrown only because they are apparently nice guys.

I think that's fine. I do wonder how Oden envisioned how Wano would be once that had happened.

His way of thinking definitely would have changed after spending so many years on the open seas, and seeing the Cultures of so many different Countries. I wonder if he in any way instilled that upon Momonosuke, or perhaps the scabbards who could teach Momo when he comes of age.

This is the thing no one seems to remember is also supposed to be completed this arc.

Luffy says he will leave Wano a place where everyone can eat as much as they want.

As in this arc doesn't end with beating kaido. Luffy has promised to literally fix the country from top to bottom. This isn't like alabasta where beating Crocodile directly results into the rain returning. Beating kaido won't turn udon back from being a wasteland. The weapon factories being destroyed doesn't automatically cure pollution. Yet Luffy PROMISED to fix ALL OF THIS.


No one seems to really think about this and the implications it has on the arc.

Well no one except me. The easy and most obvious answer is the Big mom pirates. That crew that we have seen terraform dozens of islands and turn them into food paradises. Seems pretty obvious that they somehow have the ability to manipulate weather and components of soil and all the things required to fix the pollution and arid climate that plagues wano.

Either the big mom pirates switch sides and help Luffy or Luffy finds a Terraforming device somewhere in Wano that can fix all this shit.

I think the concept of "Open Wano's Borders" is all tied to the thought of if Kaido and Orochi are removed from the picture, and the Borders are open, the Country itself can finally move forward. That way they can adapt to more standardized ways of living, that other more developed countries from a social standpoint have.

And this is impossible with just beating kaido.

Like beating kaido and Orochi won't put food in anyone's stomach. The country will still be polluted. Udon will still be a wasteland

You have to remember that the Flower Capital, and Onigashima have an overabundance of food. They are hoarding it all to themselves. Luffy was informed of this. Luffy's way of thinking is more akin to tearing down the infrastructure based on the Rich eat, while the poor suffer, rather than promising to somehow fix the landscape itself. In Luffy's mind that's up to the people to do. Luffy's job is stop those who get to fill their bellies every night, while watching the rest of the Country starves to death.

I was wondering how Luffy would fix Wano. Very good thinking with the Big Mom pirates. I imagine the weapons factories could start producing other items, like parts for buildings or ships. If Green Bull has a plant fruit, maybe he will help Udon.

It is funny how years ago we had these many theories about Kaido having a daughter because of the Kaidu reference yet people are so surprised at Yamato being a girl and never saw it as an option.

I like this design. Similar to other "pretty women" designs by Oda but she's actually super unique for a female character. I sincerely think she's the next Strawhat.


Also think she's BMs daughter too, and maybe the whole male identity thing was to hide it from Linlin. Now that they are allied, the big announcement is that she's both the Yonkos child. I don't see her mother being anyone else at this point lol
