Chapter Discussion Oda does not care about the Strawhat crew

#62
They are simply not important nowadays , they have a few crumbs here and there, but overall they are moments that barely matter on a large scale.

Franky is the perfect example. A lot of people say that Franky has been great in this arc, but he has like 4 highlight panels in an arc that is already a bigger than thriller bark. If the anime was adapted at a normal pace, his participation would have 3 minutes of screen time. In Wano, he received a fight that Oda barely put effort into, without any special plotline against a character with as much impact and characterization as these random V.As, the fight would be almost like a filler if his new sword didn't appear.

Luffy being compared to Ryuma in Wano instead of Zoro was next level, and ZERO panels of Ryuma's grave.:sanmoji:
In retrospect, it all makes sense since Ryuma doesn’t need his fishman babysitter or inhaler or somebody else’s magic aura to liberate the borders of Wano. :usoprice:

I understand the point of the giants and i agree, but at least let Straw hats be part of action, and the giants will need to escape in the end also. Why not just make Usopp snipe that VA for example.

I'm not talking only about fights, the introduction of characters that i would call pointless, and not needed takes away from the SH generally.
Sabaody focuses on SH a lot, it's not all about the fights.
Some of the Strawhats are part of the action (mostly against their will but still) but most of them are focused on escaping

I understand wanting more from the Strawhats action wise but I just don’t think this is the arc for that

If you look at Oda basically did what he’s always done (yes, even pre timeskip)

About half of the Strawhats get some action in and the other half do other things (escaping in this case)

This arc doesn’t really introduce needless characters though. It expanded on 2 characters that people wanted to see more of and are directly tied to Luffy

The only thing that I’d say was almost completely pointless was the little murder mystery thing. It was dragged on for no reason

Other than that I’d say about half of the Strawhats got a decent amount this arc

Luffy was in multiple skirmishes, Zoro got Lucci and Kaku, Sanji got Kizaru and will likely be directly effected by Vegapunk’s death, Franky showed up and showed out against Saturn and Kizaru, and Robin got her closure for the Ohara Incident

If we are talking about only post time skip.
Nami has cool moments here and there.
I just hate how long I have to wait for these moments
First half of wano and Dressrosa was bad for her tho
WCI and Zou was saving grace. That's why it is my favorite arc

I hate Egghead. :peperain:

Bonney got same amount of panel time in 1.5 Years during Egghead that Nami got during wano arc even though it was 4 years long.

Bonney has 4 times of panel time of Nami in egghead
Nami wanted Flower Jewel and its Bonney who got it :pepecry:
What happened to her diamonds
Why did you draw it ?

Nami didn’t even used the bubble Gun. Sanji took it. Why ??

Such is the fate of the main heroine
:feelscryingman:

I don't even care about fights.
I just want her to get involve in main plot.
Lmao

He doesn't care much about series too.. If he did he would be protesting and taking hiatus like Togashi. From what I can see, the way chapters are coming it just feels like mass cinema, Not much concentration and efforts added, just scenes to hype up the masses. It works and generates money regardless of the quality of series now since a mass following has already been established.

I partially agree

Paradoxically they were better treated this way, can’t blame them for being useless when they literally aren’t present. And I didn’t say the manga can’t be good without them, I’m a fucking admiral fan lmao. I still can find their treatment bad.
How are they useless now? You can’t expect them to have full fights when they’re running away

The same thing has happened in pretty much every escape arc, that isn’t even a Strawhat thing it’s just common sense

When the Whitebeard Pirates ran from the Marines they avoided as many confrontations as possible. Ace turning around to face Akainu went directly against their wishes and is the only reason he’s dead

Not comparable to Egghead, lol.
True, but that’s because their main focus wasn’t running away in Skypiea

Only Robin and maybe Sanji, really. Zoro had good feats but his character was completely humiliated, Ryuma - Joy boy comparison, no visit to Ryuma grave, cheap ZKK baiting by the author. Franky’s fight was so rushed people thought his opponent wasn’t KO lol.
I don’t even remember what Brook did? He played second fiddle so Robin could shine.
ZKK baiting? I’d say that’s more the readers fault than Oda’s

The rest (regarding Zoro) I agree with but he still got a pretty hefty amount. The SBS Family tree part was brutal though, he completely dropped the ball on that

Franky’s fight wasn’t the one that was rushed, Jinbei’s was. I still remember people claiming Who’s Who would get back up, most people were alright with Franky’s iirc

Brook played support while Robin took on Maria, I don’t see any problem with that

Weakling trio treatment was just Oda jerking himself off to his humiliation fetish. Chopper got it a bit better with the virus blood, but Oda ruined it by turning him into Queen’s bitch cause a YC2 totally needed a weakling trio member as a hype tool.
Chopper, someone that’s been a part of the weakling trio since the pre timeskip, took on an ancient zoan YC2 and made him bleed multiple times and you think he got bitched?

Chopper was praised to help and back when those chapters came out. He did way better than most readers thought he would

Chopper’s slap making Queen bleed was used to clown Sanji for ages lol

If anything you should’ve used Usopp and Nami for this cause even I’ll admit they got the much shorter end of the stick

Sanji as a character has lots of panels and he has involvement in the narrative as well.

The only problem is he didn't live upto what we expect from him.

Zoro has been doing fine as far as fights are concerned..but he lacks involvement in the main plot narrative.

But these things aren't new.. going during Pre TS as well.

I think these two will be fine.

Other SHs - they suffer the most as they aren't getting much fights to grow and shine nor they are playing any role useful because other side characters have chipped in to take their panels + Over the moon Nika wank

Idr this? Which chapter was that. i do recall Kawamatsu and Hyogoro saying he was the spitting image of Ushimaru down to looks and sword style. And then mention his similarities to Ryuma being one eyed samurai/swordsmen

the no show grave is currently a miss unless Oda gives us a flashback during a future Zoro fight/story moment. But as it stands I agree a miss

The problem is the threats in the New World at this stage in the game are far to strong for YC 1 characters.

Everyone below Luffy is to weak to compete.

Don't worry though after every L haki will bloom

It’s no longer worth a weekly read, better read in bulks
Final saga just started so there are more interesting general plotlines, but the chapters are no longer engaging on a weekly basis and a big part of that is neglecting the main cast, along with the endless repetitive cringe gags and a whole lot of nothing going on
