Once the Gorosei try to sink the whole world, watch even Akainu and Ryokugyu defect. Even Ryokugyu values the “stability” most of the world enjoys thanks to WG discrimination. The WG killing the entire population is not something he will coooperate with.

It may take some time, but the Marines will not aid the Government in the end. There is no way.

The only way Akainu doesn’t defect is if somehow the Gorosei fool him, and that’s very probable considering his extreme hate for pirates

Sure some people would rather kill their enemies than protect the innocent, but nobody wants to kill their enemies at the cost of losing their own life if there’s some other alternative.

Who said they need to sacrifice themselves? There are many ways they could survive in a temporarily flooded world. The red line for example, it's mostly empty. They build giant floating island fortresses. The moon or moons. Etc...
