Questions & Mysteries How did Mihawk make a black blade and Roger couldn't??

How do you make a black blade?

Why don't we start there?

We can't, because we don't know.

I’m interested to see how Oda is going to write himself out of this black blade issue.
Haki alone can’t solve it since he’s already suggested that Roger conquered the sea with it but didn’t have a black blade.

At this point, the likeliest explanation is probably going to be something like “some esoteric skill that most just don’t care about and doesn’t make you stronger than those without anyway.”
You don't need to write yourself out of a situation, you never wrote yourself into.

Maybe Roger's Haki wasn't on that level to make it?? If oda goes that root i don't see a problem with that.. Roger was never stated to have the best Haki in the verse
Kaido’s statement implies exactly that. And even if Roger wasn’t the best, the next best thing Whitebeard didn’t have a black blade either.
That same Whitebeard was still called the strongest man in the world despite Mihawk being in that same world.

So clearly just Haki isn’t the solution. That’s why I said Oda has written himself into a corner because whatever it is apparently wasn’t important enough for the likes of Roger or Whitebeard to bother.
The likeliest thing is still a side interest that a few swordsmen hyper-focus on for whatever reason

Does that mean that Mihawk Haki is greater that Roger?? If so that means Mihawk >Roger (since Haki is an integrate part of swordsmanship and Mihawk is the strongest swordsman)
There is a theory due to there being. A panel questioning if haki alone is enough that in order to forge a black blade you need to fight someone who uses black fire while your haki is strong enough to resist those flames comparing it to how the sword is forged in the first place by heating it and beating it with a hammer. And that you need to fight someone who can push you to their best it was the YouTube daks sake who in his sanji vs aokiji vid theorized that
So Roger didn’t make a black blade for he never fought someone who could use black fire

It’s all about being able to connect to one’s sword probably.

As usual Mihawk/Zoro stans are all talk with no concrete proof to back up their claims of Mihawk being this great Haki master.
Want some proof?
Here it comes.
The proof is called Zoro!

Zoro has already taken his Haki a step above the handful of the very strongest.
And Roger has only managed to reach that level.

Roger's haki is a step behind Zoro's haki and not even Zoro's haki is good enough for Mihawk's level yet.
Zoro needs to take his haki to the level where it surpasses Mihawk's haki in order to beat him.

And despite having haki in a higher level than Roger, it is still not enough for Mihawk.
It is simple, Roger's haki was too weak. It never reached the point to surpass the original rank of the sword.

He was carried by his sword instead of surpassing it and lifting the sword to a higher level.
Zoro is ruining yall agendas, all the time. He is the question that yall don't have any answers for.
So yes, Mihawk is the greatest haki master in the show because even the guy with haki stronger than Roger's cant surpass Mihawk's, yet.

The question ya'll should ask yourself is...did Roger really need a Black Blade? From everything we know in the manga the answer is clearly "no" for now.

Doesn't need, doesn't care.
Is it so hard nowadays to use a few braincells for One Piece? Keklmao

Chapter 1023 seemingly gives some explanation.
Zoro vs. King, Zoro said King wasn't a Swordsman.
King said he isn't, and he defined what a Swordsman is... a Swordsman is someone who sticks to a traditional style and form in battle in the TCB, whereas the Viz translation for King, he states he's willing to use anything to win a battle including biting his opponent.
In other words, a Swordsman is someone who will literally only rely on a Sword to win a fight and nothing else but Sword techniques.

I'd imagine Whitebeard and Roger weren't Swordsmen, they're willing to win battles even without a Sword. Black blades can probably only be developed by true Swordsmen, and I guess just like Enma was able to acknowledge Zoro and Oden, Swords can acknowledge true swordsmen which is part of the requirement to get a black blade.
Gyukimaru also said Ryuman's black blade was forged through many battles.

Adding everything up together, it seems a Black blade is formed by a Swordsman (someone who only relies on a Sword to win and is dedicated to Swordsmanship alone) through many battles. I guess once the Sword acknowledges you're the best Swordsman along with extraordinary Haki, you acquire a Black blade, that's what I think so far.

Not to say Roger isn't a Swordsman, but he's probably not dedicated to purely Swordsmanship the way Zoro or Mihawk are. Roger was probably an amazing Swordsman, but not a pure Swordsman if I had to guess.

"Roger didn't care about his sword :pepecopium:"
