Not interested in the swordsman debate at all, but Stephen is hardly a guy who never makes mistakes or doesn't follow his own agenda.
He quite often has some obvious blunders in his translation.
Just last year his "mother frame" translation confused a lot of western fans, while those understanding the context always said that only "mother flame" makes sense (which ofc turned out to be true).
Same thing with the whole Yamato fiasco, that again confused western fans. In Japanese only gender-neutral pronouns are used when Yamato is involved and Stephen somehow decided that in English male pronouns are the way to go in order to promote his point of view.
