1. I’m not sure what you find boring about this arc
2. Because this isn’t a combat arc? Eggheads set up for what’s to come.
The lore, and more specifically VP’s speech. I’m finding the lore reveal underwhelming and it undercuts literally everything this arc.

VP’s speech/the egghead incident is bad -> the arc is bad

It’s quite elementary really

How does it undercut the arc? We knew that Vegapunk was researching the poneglyphs so now we know what it was he was researching

If I went back in time and told you you'd get Strawhats + Dory & Brogy vs. Awakened Zoan Gorosei at the same time as Vegapunk revealing that the world is flooding and then it cuts to Rayleigh talking about Roger:
:kizawat:
See this is what I’m saying with the on paper vs execution point.

If you told me about it, I probably would have imagined something much cooler than what we got.

What Lolda gives me:

What I want:
That's happening soon.

Oda has suspiciously not shown Kizaru's reaction to the actual reveals from Punk at all.

For a reason.

Kizaru is about to get up and throw hands with the Gorosei soon.

The bitchhat pirates need someone to hold the Gorosei back for them to escape.

The ancient robot alone can't do it.

Kizaru is gonna take to the skies and come down on egghead like thunder.

Like the beams that destroyed Lulusia.

Kizaru awakening coming soon :myman:

Because the entire arc is building up to it.

This is like high school creative writing 101, set up without proportional payoff is poor storytelling.
Idk what more payoff you’d want? The gorosei are here and Vegapunk is telling the world what the true aftermath of the void century was. Confirming the power of the weapons, and revealing the identity of the third one to the readers.

Like obviously odas not going to show us the full void century; but we got enough to understand a lot more about the world.

What? The straw hat fight with the gorosei were lame, sanji kicked one then next scene he gets thrown to the ground with a bunch of side characters intervening. Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Brook legit just had 3 panels and the fight was discontinued. Is this why you guys like this arc because of the ideas presented regardless of how well they are executed?
What's actually wrong with it though? Luffy vs. Saturn and Kizaru was pretty great all the way through. In the past 5 chapters there's been great panels from a few of them. Obviously it's not a full-on fight because they have other goals, but that doesn't make it anti-climactic at all for me. The only fight that was underwhelming for me this arc was Luffy vs. Kizaru round 1.

7 isn't average but rather good
My scale goes

10/10~ perfect chapter couldn't have done it better if I tried

9/10~ good but could be better

8/10~ I liked it but something is missing

7/10~ Average chapter nothing terrible but nothing exciting either

6/10~ good for what it is but I know oda can do better

5/10~ Maybe it'll be better in the anime

4/10~ you can skip it and not miss anything

3/10~ The fuck I just read

2/10 ~ absolutely atrocious, disjointed and makes zero sense to the overall story

1/10~ is Oda okay? Putting trash like this out he better have cancer or something

0/10~ My Disappointment is Immeasurable and my day is ruined

What's the bad execution exactly though? Bear in mind you're currently trashing on a chapter you've only heard about and haven't seen.

First, Vegapunk hasn’t revealed anything to the reader that wasn’t obvious (literally almost everyone’s first guess about the sky weapon was Uranus). Even sea level rise while not obvious is nothing crazy.

Second, we haven’t even really seen the impact on the world, and frankly this speech just seems like a senile smart guy babbling than a call to action.

So from an impact on the reader standpoint it’s disappointing, and it seems like it’s probably going to be a disappointment on the world impact as well.
