I read the fast translation and I really love what Hara is doing with Shibashou’s character! He may be an 8 foot tall giant warrior but he has the mind of a philosopher and an intellectual, and he really wanted Seika to prosper as its own independent Kingdom. Hara really wrote Shibashou as a far more thoughtful and intelligent character than it may have seemed at first.
Firstly, Shibashou laments that even though they built Seika as an ideal Kingdom independent of all the political turmoils in China, Seika got drawn into war anyway. He is upset over the futility of Seika’s pure-hearted intentions inevitably falling into the same cycle as the rest of China. Which is awesome as it shows how China fell into this cycle to begin with.
Secondly, Hara actually made Shibashou be correct where Riboku is wrong. Riboku thinks Qin’s ambition of unification is dead, with Shibashou being the one to know that Qin won’t stop. Literally Hara made my man an intellectual!!
If only Hango was as good as Shibashou’s character
