Matt Owens put Smoker in the S tier for his personal ranking. I think he will cook with the casting.

To me Smoker is the embodiment of the good marine who sees the flaws in the World Government who will bring the change. Imho, he is the future hero of the marine. His rivalry with Luffy mirrors perfectly the relationship with Roger and Garp. He is a rebel who follows his own justice. He is a no nonsense chad who is the anti thesis to our main character while sharing similar beliefs.

I wish Oda would put Smoker in his S tier for personal ranking :josad:

And I've always said Smoker, Koby, Fujitora, Drake, etc... are going to lead the "Good" marines after the current system is dismantled. I hope Oda's saving Smoker for the final war.

I always found that he is a lot more likable and interesting than most of the rookies or characters introduced in the NW. Matt also thinks that Smoker and Tashigi have been wasted. He does not seem to like the fact that Oda is purposefully not developing Zoro in fear that he would become more popular than Luffy. The Live Action could fix these issues by giving them more substantial roles.

I am relieved Oda did not forget Smoker and everything is building up towards the finale with the good marines being included.
