Plot armor and plot induced stupidity favoring the Straw Hats and their allies were up to a nauseating degree during WCI and even more during Wano, with a total absence of sense of danger and stakes and real epicness.

It was clear that the Straw Hats and their allies weren't the underdogs at all, with the plot being stacked so heavily in their favor and against the BMP and BP. It's part of why I dropped One Piece for a while in the second half of WCI and in the third act of Wano.

I don’t even consider it plot convenience because Oda didn’t have to bring Smoothie or any of the other characters who weren’t going to fight to Wano. That was a prime example of bad writing. Big Mom could have came with just Perospero Kaido wouldn’t be able to deal with her and the straw hats anyway his crew would get wrecked.

And let's not forget Oda conveniently choosing the Admiral that wouldn't instantly one shot kill the SHs in Sabaody.
Also stuff like Kinemon surviving Kaido raping him raw in the castle

I seriously cannot take Oda anymore. He actually started the arc beautifully, drew good panels, had good pacing, had good lore that got us interested. But no, he had to clog the story, spread 1 second of universe time to 25 chapters at the end didn’t he?! He should either move to biweekly/monthly manga or let someone else draw for him. He introduces unnecessary amount of characters, he always says this and that and …, his only humour in the last 15 years is shitting on Sanji and drawing bad wanted posters for Franky. F*cking FT finished an entire manga, started a new one and finished like 10 arcs with the power of friendship and also full comedic empty chapters before this guy could finish even one arc. I am fine with him showing reactions, saying Clover is a D., Roger is a D. etc. but, just move the story forward already and if you can’t, leave it to someone that can!

She could have become this indeed, she had an interesting crazy mob boss character combined with terrifying strength and durability, Elbaf techniques, extremely powerful Coc and one of the most powerful and versatile devil fruits whose only limits are the powers of your imagination.

The fact that she's this powerful mafia figure with a vast network of info and influence made her truly terrifying on paper, and Germa not only implied that they could have Big Mom put a hit out on Zeff or have him assassinated, she could've just as easily threatened to do the same to the home islands of each of the straw hats for daring to cross her. But that fact that just gets forgotten about along with any notion of a Germa alliance or any relevance for Big Mom or her association with Elbaf. She just gets brushed away as a dud and becomes Big Meme.

But Oda and strong female characters don't go along well, and it's obvious that Oda had no clue on what to do with Big Mom once he realized that she was too powerful for the Straw Hats and their allies in WCI and for the Supernovas in Wano, the result was the shitshow and hot burning garbage that we saw in both WCI and Wano.

With Katakuri, the man created one of the most ambitious and popular new villains to come from the timeskip, and having his fight with Luffy end with the implication that he let Luffy win was the perfect setup for a rematch, which again felt like the Straw Hats and BM would cross paths again with proper fights against the whole crew, but instead... well you already know.
