I don't dislike her, but Kishimoto's writing really didn't do her any favor, he had a gift at making people we are supposed to sympathize with unlikeable instead.

She is hated so much for good reason. It's not like all the hate just popped out of nowhere.
She treated Naruto like garbage throughout the series despite him being nice to her and going out of his way to protect her and help her when needed. Not saying she had to have a crush on him back or anything of course, but at least treating him more decently? On that note, her "confession" to Naruto is an especially low point on her character. At best, I would characterize it as selfish, self-centered and lacking social awareness, at worst, manipulative. She thinks he is chasing after Sasuke because of his promise to her? Was she just completely blind to all the pain that he went through himself? It really doesn't make sense.
Also she had an obsession with Sasuke for years for ??? reasons. It was annoying throughout Part 1, but albeit a bit more understandable to have a schoolgirl crush on a cute classmate at that age. The problem was that in Part 1, that was the majority of the goals for her character (getting Sasuke to like her). That and gaining more confidence. Yes, you could make a similar argument about Hinata, but the difference is, we can actually understand where her crush is coming from. Naruto is someone she admired and aspires to be like in terms of confidence and how he is willing to get back up no matter how many times he falls down. There is more meat to it than just "he is smart, reserved, and handsome" for example.
Moving onto Shippuden, we still have no real explanation for her obsession and love for Sasuke. It's just delusional at this point and you would have expected her to mature past it (I mean the guy literally tried to kill her and her friends???) but she still loves him (WHY!?) anyway.
Aside from her treatment of Naruto and obsession with Sasuke, the main reason for the hate is her uselessness as a character. She is really strong as a character on her own, no doubt. But the issue is that she is one of the main 3 characters of the series. That's why people are so much more critical of her ability and what she does. As a main character, there are much higher expectations and she falls short of it consistently. She is constantly compared to (and compares herself with) Naruto and Sasuke who are miles above her. Time and time again, we hear how she wants to catch up to the both of them and how she has grown stronger, but it just never happens. And during the war we have that part where she says she finally caught up to them. Literally laughable.
She was definitely nowhere on par with either of them, she was just finally able to stand side-by-side with them during a fight. That's pretty much it. For the majority of people, the whole thing came off arrogant and delusional.
There are definitely more reasons for the hatred towards her character, but I feel like I made my point. There are plenty of reasons to justify why she is disliked.
It's just beating a dead horse at this point. Naruto ended 10 years ago, and there are no sequels. It's much better to see her as an example of how NOT to write a girl in your shonen trio (Gege might have cooked if he didn't have his tendency to kill off female characters) and move on.
I would disagree to be honest.
I like plenty of villains in Naruto and I feel like Kishimoto did fine for the most part there.
