Oda used Buggy explained to us how you become Pirate King and he made it clear you don't have to beat anybody to find One Piece.
Mihawk didn't confirm Yonkos are stronger than him. Mihawk knows it's foolish for them to go face a Yonko crew when him, Crocodile, and Mr. 1 are the only strong ones on a crew. Mihawk winning but losing majority his crew isn't worth it. That defeats the purpose of them creating Cross Guild. Even WB didn't want to head to Wano to fight Kaido because he knew there would have been casualties.
The race for One Piece has never been a solo race. You can't become PK or find One Piece just by being the strongest or on your own. When Mihawk said becoming Pirate King is tougher he wasn't talking about from a strength point of view.
You bring up the Stephan Paul post yet he says it's up to interpretation. He's telling us he's not sure and his interpretation is just his opinion. He never said Mihawk said he weaker than WB.
