With Inside Out 2 and its success, it looks like Pixar's bad days are finally behind it after the troubles of the allegations against John Lasseter and his departure, the pandemic and the financial failures of the late 2010s, early 2020s that forced the studio to release employees and created strong doubts about Pixar's future.

It was really a braindead idea from Disney to have new Pixar movies released on Disney + rather than in theaters. Disney's lack of faith in and marketing for Elemental also nearly killed the movie, that thankfully managed to catch up with the public and become reasonnably successful.

Now Pixar has shown that it remains one of the most important and creative animation studios and will remain here for a long time.

Toy Story 5 is actually the one I'm skeptical about, I have heard and read positive critics about Toy Story 4 but I have always felt that Toy Story 3 was the perfect conclusion to the series and that it shouldn't have continued after.

Toy Story 4 ends with Woody saying goodbye to Buzz and the others, and staying with Bo Peep.

Toy Story 5, somehow Woody is back with Buzz and the others again.

To be fair to them

whenever they make something new, people don't go watch it

but when they make franchise shit, everybody goes watch it

Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine both made over a billion dollars

we the audience vote with our wallet, and people are voting they want more franchise shit

Because they don’t have competent writers
Strange World, Raya etc. were all mid or trash
The old writers established the fundament of Disney and the current writers milk it off because they’re dogshit, have no love or dedication
It’s like food
People would rather try the same thing over and over again than something new which isn’t appetising
Disney makes something new, yes but it looks like dogshit

executives see these results and decide that making more franchise movies is the best choice, since that's what people want to watch

people trash talk DLCs, Battle Passes, Expensive Skins, Remakes, Reboots, Re-releases and Annual Franchise Launches like Call of Duty.

Yet, they keep fucking buying it.

So it won't change lmao.
