Funny you say that because I have the same expectations for Shanks as I did for Gojo. That he'll lose or die in some underhanded way, still leaving room for fans to argue he's the strongest.

But I never thought Gojo was Gege's favorite character, the opposite actually, especially given that Gege has mentioned multiple times before 236 that he doesn't like him. I doubt Oda will go down the same path. The man ruined the climax of the longest arc just to include Shanks in the manga to promote Film Red.

Given that Blackbeard has to come with his whole crew put of that fight with minimal losses, it's def not gonna be some straight fights, it's going to be some mixed scenario where he kills Shanks, or at least gain an advantage where his crew wont suffer heavy casualties to weaken his military.

Your headcanon doesn’t change the fact that the history of the era you’re talking about was erased. Gyukimaru cannot be referring to enemies from the void century because he doesn’t know about their existence.
