Politics is a conflict of value. And most values are forming two big groups. Leftism and rightism. This means that leftism only exist because rightism exist. But you can call it however you want progressist against conservatist, blue against red.. it doesn't matter. What we need to understand is that it's not a fight of three but a fight of two groups.

And since society and values evolves with time, the value defended by leftists and rightists evolve as well. This means that leftists of today are not the leftist of 200 years ago and will not be the leftists on 300 years from now.

Currently, you can divide leftism and rightism with something simple : The vision of capitalism
