I swear having Shibashou as your favorite has to be the ultimate i have no taste test
Shit design, not a single good dialogue or character moment, not any interesting quirks, fight style or philosophy and no cool backstory so far either
Renpa's intro with the hype he got and the hug with his boys shits on all of Seika's moments combined

Renpa is the most generic great general in this manga. When I first laid eyes on him I thought Hara plagiarized Garp. In this day and age I know Hara could never plagiarize Lolda but Renpa comes off as a copy-paste battle hungry general from any other manga.
Shibashou is one of the only Kingdom characters who’s design is actually based on something, in this case the mythological Qilin:
What even is Renpa? A generic Garp clone with fiery hair? Lol
Renpa’s only good speech was about how Shin had to unify China. Which we already knew.
So Renpa’s only good speech was pre-existing information. Lol
Shibashou has his quote about not being a king not a dictator, which was goated,
Shibashou has his quote about men being too cowardly to lay down their weapons, which was goated,
Shibashou has his speech about hoping that calling Seika into war would allow them to show Seika’s philosophy to the world, but instead Seika only became trapped in the cycle of warfare, which was goated.
Shibashou has several goated character moments, Renpa has literally nothing.
What even is an interesting quirk lmfao. Let me guess, Renpa’s “interesting quirks” were plagiarized from other manga already? Lol
He has literally. The exact same fighting style as Renpa. Lmfao
Renpa’s philosophy is “MUH BATTLEFIELD.” Shibashou has more goated quotes in his single flashback than Renpa has had in 20 years.
Being a Renpa fan is a classic sign of having the IQ of a wounded gnat. It screams “Hara is at his best when he’s plagiarizing other mangaka”. You actually have to be a headwound victim to enjoy Renpa.

Anyway, Shibashou himself. I saw a post on Reddit that noticed some similarities between Shibashou and the mythological Qilin:
And the more that I look at this thing, the more I think this is correct. I was wondering why the Seika gang seemed to have animal themes and this appears to be the answer, Shibashou is inspired by the Qilin. Just look at Shibashou himself:
-Horse-themed breast plate
-Spiral hair and Glaive patterns
-Scaled bracers
-Pig tails semi-resembling antlers
These things even have origins dating back to the warring states era.
But what is most interesting is what I found about the Qilin on Wikipedia (research level 100), that these things “are said to appear with the arrival or passing of an illustrious sage or ruler.”
Now I’m not going to comment on any historical spoilers but…the fact that we have been introduced to the minor sub plot of Riboku just being proclaimed the Lord of the second largest city in all Zhao, with his subordinates openly proclaiming that they want to see him as the King of Zhao, and now Riboku is joined in battle by the metaphorical herald of the sage…Hara really does intend to go hard with this sub plot it seems lmfao. Man is the GOAT, quite simply.
To anyone who thinks Shibashou is nothing more than a powerful Zhao general, the more and more we learn about this guy, the more important his ultimate roll in the story appears to be. His arrival, I believe, is to signify the importance of Riboku and his advancement as a powerful sage/ruler…and perhaps eventually any other Kingly commanders Shibashou may end up joining forces with. But I wouldn’t know anything about that.
