Questions & Mysteries Why is Zoro much more relevant than Luffy to the fandom?

#25
Does it really matter if they praise his feats though?
Although I have noticed majority of fans thinks Zoro has great feats, so is it vocal majority? Majority is generally vocal you know unless its silent, because its majority so if majority agrees with something, it would naturally be vocal.
Simply praising is not a big deal. But, it irritating when you have to make a big deal out of it like some legendary level feats. That is what Shanks fans do most of the time and to some extent Luffy fans. Ever wonder why only these two characters get large amount of flak and to some extent Luffy ? Because they blew and interpolate the existing feats to the moon and give imaginary feats to the character. Every popular character has large number of fans but not every character cares about battles or feats. They became fan of character not because of their feats in battle or anything and of course they will enjoy the battles of such character but it is secondary. Majority of Zoro fans only care about cool and badass moments, they don't want Zoro look vulnerable even for a panel and if by chance he looks vulnerable, they will come up with large amount of theories to cover it up which is unnecessary. Seeing these things in public forms tend to give rebellious nature to other neutral viewers which leads to big debates. So they try to shit on every bad moment.

Legendary in what sense, like legendary panel for real people or in universe Legendary feat? Because former is okay, I mean if Oda draws a panel for Zoro and it becomes memorable and draws him insane amount of money, you can call it a legendary feat, Zoro didn't have an in universe legendary feat yet, well maybe you can call Pica feat legendary because in Zoros novel you had marines debating who is the strongest, Zoro, Shanks or Mihawk and used Pica feat to make Zoros case.

I mean its not necessarily that they don't want Zoro to look vulnerable, they just don't want it to be blown out of proportion. Like what is the point of making a big deal of two supernovas getting a hit in on him, while he is distracted? I guess both sides are culprits, there is extreme pro Zoro side who make excuses but there is extreme anti Zoro crowd that blow it out of proportion.

Majority of fans in general care about cool moments its just that most characters don't have as much look with getting cool photo moments as Zoro does.
There is a reason for that and that's when it comes to entertainment, people have short attention span, they wanna see things that look visually cool as its easy to digest, they don't wanna think because entertainment is there to blow off steam from work or worries of real life in general.

I personally like Zoro because of his great moral compas, how he handles ethical dilemmas and his philosophy and way of life. But most people don't think that way.

Zoro is not more relevant than Luffy at all, it's just an illusion that some of his fans try to create.

Minorities are always more active and louder than the majority, it's like the ones who criticized and hated LOK so much for not being as good as ATLA that led some naïves to really believe that most people hated LOK.

I think Luffy is stronger than zoro. He was stronger than zoro and he always will be stronger than zoro.
If it were so then I dont know why he was shown as Luffy's equal 4 times when it comes to combat ability.
Once in the manga itself and 3 times in databooks, their combat ability was the same.
I think the biggest reactions around Zoro happen precisely because people refuse to admit that Zoro is at least as strong as Luffy.
They're the Jehovah witness' of the One Piece community. Can you spare a moment to talk about our Sword Lord and Savior?
This made me laugh. :sabogood:

Zoro is actually quite humble and reserved which go with other likable traits. Despite being very likable, Zoro isn't shoved down our throats. Oda under serves and under develops Zoro, whereas Luffy will be the only Straw Hat to get a fight in an arc, the only one to come across relevant arc characters, and sometimes the only Straw Hat to show up at all. He's the main character and you can easily take him for granted.

Plus at least here, Zoro's attention is only countered by the dumbest arguments so it makes you root for him even more. People go on and on about something idiotic like "oh he got scratched by nails" only to see him pull Luffy's future sighting ass out of the line of fire when the going gets tough. ROFL.

Because he's the Grandmaster. Zoro told Luffy when they met,"My Will is greater than yours." So even if Luffy is the MC, Zoro is Stronk.:finally:

Zoro and Luffy's dreams are deeply intertwined. Luffy expects no less of Zoro, and the Grandmaster expects no less of Luffy. If either one were to die, their dreams would become invalid. Zoro can't let Luffy die, or he won't feel he is the WSS. Luffy can't become PK if Zoro isn't WSS.

Luffy can't become PK if Sanji dies either, so it isn't really unique to Luffy Zoro.

He would've become a toy in Dressrosa if not for Usopp coming in clutch with his haki unlocking, he would not have the Road Poneglyph in time if not for Brook -seems like Luffy can't really become pirate king if any of his crew die.

Its a swords fetish, the guys see a character with a sword and get a boner.

Seems to me that this zorot4rds have grow in numbers after the end of Naruto, as much of the Naruto fandom moved to One Piece and started this naruto-like headcanons and power levels discussions.
There's always some guy who shows up to talk about dicks as if no one realizes he's projecting.

Well I guess Zoro's popularity and the amount of hate he gets contributes to that. Other than that, Luffy is not really an interesting character to discuss tbh, he's the mc and being shoved in our faces every single chapter that everyone's (that's not his fanboy) got enough of him (at least that's what I think)...

Rest of crew replaceable except for Zoro, Robin, Franky, and Brook.
