And since you seem to hold the opinion that banning things willy nilly is not a problem–what about banning knives not only outside but in our homes? What about banning all work utensils and criminalizing manual work, home cooking, gardening etc? Let's force the people to pay specialized companies for such mundane tasks because allowing them to own utensils is too dangerous because they are dumb and potential criminals& murderers. In reality, there is no correlation to more or less gun contributing to crime. Guns don't go floating around killing people. Where there is organized crime, there will be more gun deaths. It is as simple as that. Gun control only stops people from defending themselves.
