Why exactly? Just curious.
Every current character of note speaks about Dayne like he's the best thing ever. From veterans of 3/4 Kingsguard, Barristan Selmy, to Jaime Lannister, who's a tournament pro and has gone up against both Loras and Garland Tyrell.

When the best of the current generation all admit that Dayne was nuts, I'm gonna believe them.

And Martin himself said that he would choose Dayne as a fighter in a trial
And he also said that if he had to pick a sword he would choose Dawn

For the record, Arthur Dayne, fighting alongside Gerold the White Bull and another Kingsguard, lost to Ned and a bunch of random Northmen in a 3v7.

Sandoq the Shadow fought a Kingsguard and 12 gold cloaks in a 1v12 and killed them all with contemptuous ease. Daemon Blackfyre won the best duel of all time and only died because he dismounted his horse to drag his defeated opponent off of the battlefield out of respect and got lit up by an arrow barrage.

Dayne really had one of the absolute worst deaths for someone of his caliber.

It’s pretty much all but confirmed that Dayne got stabbed in the back, literally, and that’s why he lost.

The Mountain takes this. Sandor is definitely more skilled and probably has a speed advantage, but Gregor's strength advantage is absurd. If Sandor gets close, he's going to get manhandled. If he chooses to fight from the outside, I doubt he will be able to get through Gregor's plate armor, and he isn't nimble enough to dodge Gregor's swings for very long. The Mountain crushes his brother.

What do you mean lol? A bloodlusted Mountain already went berserk against the Hound in book 1 and the Hound handled him with ease.

Look at the fight against Beric Dondarrion as evidence. Sandor struggled with Beric, whereas the Mountain has crushed Beric many times.

Now, some may say that was probably due to Sandor's fear of fire, but fire could come into play again.
Yeah, Sandor was afraid of the flaming sword lmfao.

In book 1, at the hands tournament, the Mountain attacked the Hound in a fit of bloodlusted rage. Sandor wasn’t wearing a helmet, and the Mountain was swinging huge killing blows at Sandor’s unguarded head. Sandor parried all of his attacks with ease, without throwing back any killing blows of his own.

The Mountain is maybe stronger than the Hound, the Hound is probably more skilled and definitely has a higher battle IQ.
