It was established as far back as Skypia that lacking willpower or hesitating greatly affects your fighting ability.

In Water 7, Zoro got destroyed by Base Kaku because, as explained twice by Nami, "his heart wasn't in the right place, but he's ready now that h me knows the truth". Zoro got many levels stronger and Kaku could even sense his fighting spirit now.

It's obvious Kizaru's abilities were negatively impacted.

If we go by what this place saying Kaido should be hardly doing damage to luffy lol.
Luffy lost but no reason to say other crazy stuff .
We saw Kizaru attacks do damage that we seen it do when he not mentally nerf .

It really does seem like Kizaru can’t deal any significant damage to Goofy without several more attacks
