Trump just appeals better to the lower and middle classes and even rural folk (like farmers and the amish), always speaking in a more down to earth manner that appeals to workers rather than sounding like everything he says is put through a college intern's social studies filter.

Meanwhile the democratic party is more concerned with dividing people into categories of minority status, regardless if they're low or mid class, and demonizes anyone who would not support them 100% by calling them racist, fascist, sexist, etc. when the reality is that you can't reduce someone to a one dimensional caricature in regards to their views. Its why even many democrats voted third party this time around because the dem party have completely lost their way and their damn minds.

It also doesn't help that a lot more people, especially gen z, have become disalusioned with the system in the last decade what with less escapist outlets to distract them from how crappy the world is since so much stuff these days goes out of its way to remind them of how bad things are. So most of them probably vote Trump to stick it to the narrative of those who constantly tell them they're awful simply for existing.
