Those of us who can trace part of our ancestry back to the colonial era in the americas can claim that a big chunk of our ancestors were criminals who the Spanish crown wanted to get rid of. undesirables per se.

Same shit happened in Anglo-Anerica. A lot of these colonists were murderers and thieves who were shipped off to exploit native populations and African slaves.

My mom thinks that that malice was inherited and as a result, we live in low trust/highly individualistic societies on this side of the world. My point is, we descend from criminals so in turn, we romanticize criminals like Pablo Escobar, Al Capone, and now Trump.
