Earliest known ancestor of all MAMMALS were rodents like creatures.
Thus, all mammals are in Class Mammalia and therefore RELATED (key word) to all other mammals.
Go further back and all vertebrates are related. That's what being in Subphylum Vertebrata indicates.
Go further back again and all animals are related. That's what being in Kingdom Animalia indicates.
Step back one more time. All living things on Earth are related as we all came down from Single celled organisms.
And, we know this based on many studies and evidences - DNA, Anatomy, Biogeography, fossils ( yes fossils are evidences just because you don't understand how they give evidence doesn't mean they don't).

There are no fossils that confirms evolution. For example latest scientist reaserches proved that cro-magnons and neanderthals was just hommo sapiens, who was able to speak like us, and they wasn't different from us. While australiopiteckus is more resemble orangutan then human beign. So the answer is that evolution theoriest uses the pure fact that all living things on earth resamble each other, and made themselves believe that because we have same structure all living beigns have same parrents. This is my problem. Minor changes that leads to new species is not ordinary thing. You can't just change your own species. Also you said this word about 1 million of years, because there are no proves.

The classification in species is man-made, naturally speaking there's only living beings that undergo minor changes. Such changes can accumulate over time and make up big differences.
