Earliest known ancestor of all MAMMALS were rodents like creatures.
Thus, all mammals are in Class Mammalia and therefore RELATED (key word) to all other mammals.
Go further back and all vertebrates are related. That's what being in Subphylum Vertebrata indicates.
Go further back again and all animals are related. That's what being in Kingdom Animalia indicates.
Step back one more time. All living things on Earth are related as we all came down from Single celled organisms.
And, we know this based on many studies and evidences - DNA, Anatomy, Biogeography, fossils ( yes fossils are evidences just because you don't understand how they give evidence doesn't mean they don't).
