In first look this seems be amazing, but the sales rapidly falling down the past years with make me worry about the endphase of the manga if more breaks coming up and the sales keep going down like this...
As compare, here the sales of One Piece past years:

Since 2008 we always got insane large of volume sales each year, the past years it fall more and more below, last year One Piece sold 7.197.000 with is still amazing.
But this year only 5.1M is pretty mild if we count it for One piece standarts...

Usually One Piece sales are around 6-10mio each year..
It is very depressing and shows One Piece's attitude. Shouldn't live action bring in more fans? At least as far as sales are concerned, you hardly see any of that. And the fear I had is confirmed that more One Piece readers are distancing themselves from the manga. And I think that's a shame. I mean, the anime is doing well, isn't it? We didn't actually have a bad arc with Egghead. The sales make you think and the numbers are going down more and more, which is not good.

I hope next year things will calm down, but these numbers are really not a good sign.
Since the sales from this year are below of these from 2008, means since 16 years One Piece sales became lower than these of 2008...

Hope Oda will recover and find his strength to end this manga without rushing things.
Live action is its own canon, much like the difference between a manga/manwha and the novel (in most cases). Sure new fans will come but you get a mixture of pirates, much like some of us, that consume for free and people that buy the actual manga. Manga fans should get priority over the live action if money is the main concern for Oda that seems unlikely. Oda should be more concerned with his health, family, and finishing the story before he dies.

Let be honest here(as someone pointed it out), winning new One Piece readers is hard, because the manga is very long and people hesistate to read all or watch these episodes. Lot of my own friend stopped watching it because it was to long. Only two keep reading it until today.

Winning lot of New readers is for One Piece impossible. But I think this shouldn't be also Oda goal. I mean he had over 15mio volume sales in the past, I think he rather should focus on what he and One Piece always had: long term readers/veterans. Focus on them should be more what he should care, make them happy>having a higher sales.

Why you think 2023 sold more(2mio) than 2024(Endphase of Egghead)?
Because even thought we been in the middle of egghead, we got lot of crazy shit with made people buy the volumes:
Cross guild, Greenbull/Shanks, Law vs Teach, start of egghead(middlephase also), Shanks vs Kid, Lucci vs Luffy, Vegapunk plot, Reverse, Imu and Gorosei Monster reveals and Cobra death, Garp vs Kuzan..

Content like this with a good pace is what we old readers want to read. The Endphase of Egghead Was luckluster, stratched and kinda(sadly) boring, people lost interest and fun reading it, a reason why this year it "only" sold 5.2M...

After wano people can't take anymore long arcs(for right reason), this poor dragging of the story need to be handle better.

Believe me, make the story about Shanks and Teach and write it with a good pace and all the old readers will come back and the sales will reach 10mio again..

Oda doesn't need to win lot of New Fans, he already has a huge amount of old readers. He just need to win these readers back and One Piece will reach 10mio sales again.

Reborn

Throughout Heaven & Earth,I alone am d Honored One
That's why I don't think anybody but Oda (cause less money for him) should be "worried" about volumes sales lol
It's not even less for Oda

If I have to sum up then I will say we are making a mistake seeing one piece as an average manga and then comparing its sales with other manga who don't even hold candle to one piece.

One piece has become a brand.

Yes there is decline in number of chapters but it's more to do with more new projects which means more money for shueisha, editors, oda and manga/anime industry.

And, I don't even worry about sales or decline in readers base...

As one piece will become more consistent and reach its end, old users will sooner or later will pick it up - human nature - wants resolution of things or story especially when they invested years into it
