If Oda was baiting us with direct statements such as Zoro cutting Kaido into pieces and all the build-up, imagine what he can do with things like GB's blade. If he could have ignored ZKK, he can ignore GB's supposed Kokuto too.
Just FYI, nik87 is now claiming that a blade drawn black in all canon material INCLUDING the manga is not black. This is the same guy who claims that Hody Jones and his crew were awakened using their pills, and the claim was substantiated with them being drawn with white hair.
So just to show his logic, every character power up drawn with white hair is awakened but blades drawn black are not black blades.

And the official coloring has changed nothing regarding that, it is still black just like it was in original panels.
Just because it looks black, doesn't mean it is the same thing as Shusui and Yoru, that is all I am saying.

It is not me who claims that Hody and Hyozou, just the two of them, have Awakened from overdosing on pills, that is a manga fact.

I’m 99% certain Ryokugyu’s blade will be commented on at some point, otherwise what was the point of giving him a black blade. Even if it’s just a single passing comment right before/as Ryokugyu finally uses his sword, it would just be weird as fuck if it is never commented on.

On the other hand, I don't think you're that wrong on that part. It's true it hasn't been explicitly said only DFs can awaken, right? Maybe there's some truth to it. But why do you think Zoro also "awakened"?
