Not sure. But I believe Akainu got ACoC on the 10th day of his fight with Kuzan, and Sengoku seems to have kind of let him self go in a way, so those two factors make me believe Akainu is stronger now.

Imo I don’t fully disagree. I think at Marineford if Sakazuki wasn’t awakened (I don’t think he and Kuzan awakened till their fight) then I wouldn’t be shocked if Sengoku was the strongest marine there. Dude was comparable to prime Garp in his prime, so a high yonko level, and he never let himself regress as far as we know.

Even now I won’t be shocked if Oda gives him a 4 crown bounty to show that he’s above the admirals and Garp.

the narrative of him growing is clear when he went from being Admiral to being Fleet admiral after beating Aokiji

His rank increased as his power level accordingly

1. The initial report said they sighted 4 captains
2. Meanwhile before Admirals came, only 3 captains were roaming and destroying the city
3. After the Admirals came, Karasu asks if Sabo had found the key yet meaning that some time had passed and Sabo not only made it all the way to Marijoa but should've already found the key by Karasu's expectation

I think part of the reason we want Akainu to be strong is to have a marine threat, and that will happen, but the main threat will be Coby, even if Akainu is stronger than Roger, which Luffy and Coby will be far stronger than Roger, Coby will be there too, but it may work for both Akainu and Coby to be that strong and be main threats, Coby for sword, and Akainu for the marines, who have become two separate groups and left the world governement,
