Not that the SHs have ever needed such thing, but still. With the incoming flood, she may be needed to convince the populace that the SHs are in the right and that the WG is just a bunch of genociders.

Diplomacy has not been shown to be necessary for a pirate crew in One Piece. Vivi joining to talk to or about government officials is too scenario specific and would feel forced. There are officially named positions in One Piece that should take priority over Diplomat like Cabin Boy, Apprentice, or Ship Guard.

Being a helmsman wasn’t specific for the straw hats and luffy didn’t say he needed one. Jinbe has very little quirks aside from him being slight taken aback by the crew’s antics.

Jesus Burgess was introduced as the Blackbeard Pirates Helmsman stating a precedence that pirates in One Piece do have them officially. There is no official diplomat role on a pirate crew to date.

Jinbe was at the helm during the escape from Impel Down to Marineford foreshadowing the possibility of Jinbe being a competent helmsman.

The Strawhats could have used a helmsman for Reverse Mountain and Knock Up Stream for examples. This would have prolonged Going Merry's adventure by minimizing damage.

Royalty or other diplomats lose their diplomacy standing with the World Government once they become pirates ending the usefulness of the role.

Jinbe is far more useful on a ship, in the sea, or a battlefield than Vivi. It is not even comparable. Vivi's chance was the end of Alabasta but she decided to stay a princess and her kingdom's future leader. Robin joining instead closed the book on Vivi.

It's hardly scenario-specific when half of the future plot is going to be the world flood and convincing people to side with Luffy against the WG.

Diplomat does not equal Archeologist in importance. Archeologist is a driving force of the narrative, revealing world building history, and getting to the One Piece. It was shown almost immediately once Robin joined us the readers learning more about the world and how it helps with adventure.

So do you think Oda saved Vivi being the Strawhats "Diplomat" as a big reveal of importance? Is that what you want as a reader? A crewmate chatting with other pirates and government officials on NOT FIGHTING!?!? You really think that role has any merit with the likes of Captain Luffy and Zoro ready to fight?

Yes, they do. The difference is vivi has a country to run and she cares deeply about. Something Luffy understands. Brook wants to see Laboom again so traveling with Luffy is the best thing to do. Two different situations

Yes, I believe Lili was once of JoyBoy's nakama, if not his lover, depending on how Oda wants to play it, until either IMU tricked her into changing sides for her people, or she herself considered JB's actions too reckless and dangerous, and decided to stop him, only to later regret having misunderstood him/having allowed too extreme action in stopping him.
