I love rob lucci but I think most of you didn't get the term "well written". Explain to me why he is well written ? I mean he is badass, but why is he well written ?
He's pretty well written tbh
He suffers the fact that he's a certified sadistic psychopath so can easily fall under the 'emotionless skilled badass' title, which I think is underwhelming for him.
His backstory is decently tracked and the fact that Oda is bringing him back with an important and active role makes me hope for the best (ulterior details/development for him).

I would say he's normal writting wise, not well written, as a villain he is no where close to doffy or even crocodile (who's still hiding so many secrets)

Because he is his theme, in a way that isn't as heavy handed as most other antagonists. I like Dofy but when Luffy is like "quit pulling our strings!" well that's a little clumsy.

Lucci is a big cat, a predatorial bully. He's a dickhead to his own subordinates in a way that they just go with to avoid getting it even worse. We don't get some warmed over Kuro moment where someone takes him to task for it either. Yet Lucci will serve "under" and follow "orders" so that he can keep having it his way. He's really the best of "the dragon" trope because despite being a conqueror Katakuri just folded in a way that makes him no longer viable as a threat to anyone. Lucci's not at all the most powerful but Oda maintains his badass disposition. Dofy is like "hee hee I'm out!" and refuses to fight Kaido and shit. Lucci wouldn't win that either but Oda manages to get him around that rather gracefully.

That is not what I would call well written character, when most of what you did is comparing two vilains in different situations... The context matters, the only thing interesting about him is what you said about him being the best of the dragons, always loyal to them no matter what, makes him a bit more mysterious... or he just don't give af as long as he can murder people which is meh imo

Um... Okay. You disagreed with an opinion and asked for clarification, then just disagreed some more. I'm not really shocked.

But there's a reason he's just as tenable as a villain 60 volumes after his defeat. And it's not because of loyalty, because his only loyalty ironically goes to the pet snack hanging on his shoulder.

I wanted to check on why you think he is well written, to see if I can agree on it or not.... And I did say IMO in previous post

So is crocodile, and he is IMO way more interesting, so many mysteries around him...

If the last 16 years haven't convinced you then there wasn't really anything we could say though
You just can't accept that your arguments were all about comparing lucci and other villains instead of talking about actually why he is a great character... I get it you love lucci, I even said I love him because of external reasons (stylish/badass...) but I don't think he is as well written as doffy or crocodile as a villain and arguments for doffy and crocodile are everywhere on the web I don't need to give them to you

I love Crocodile, but viable as a villain?

He was blackmailed by the goofy subordinate of a power player. He was bothered that Luffy broke a deal with him. He was emotional about Whitebeard not being the man he used to be. He took Daz as his partner. He was never as savage as Lucci and will never be a real antagonist again.

That's exactly why he is better written, as I said he is not the typical vanilla vilain, he has so many mysteries around him...
Crocodile is a wonderful villain to me.

Charisma, high personality, doesn't lose composure easily, is massively badass, keeps a smile on when the situation is not positive, is not too evil and psycho like Doffy, although that trait of Doffy's personality can very well be perceived as intriguing.
