Yeah Admirals (except GB) have hype and aura, which can be more than enough to make someone an interesting and memorable character. For example, Sukuna had no backstory but is still one of the most popular villains in new gen anime. However, Admirals fans for some reason feel the need to act like Admirals are more than just hype and aura merchants. Y’all act like they’re these really complexly written characters when they’re just not.
I don't believe Kaido was ever meant to be a super deep character. His backstory seems to just be hammering in the point that all Kaido knows is battle and that he's been fighting his whole life.

Kizaru’s entire backstory: Carrying around some logs for Vegapunk.

Y’all are beyond parody. Whatever an Admiral does is automatically peak fiction because they’re an Admiral and whatever a Yonko does is generic slop because they’re a Yonko.
BB Is a beautiful character and BM had a good FB and good backstory.
It's just Kaido that Is totally plain.

He should have rebelled against the Gorosei even if it was in a subtle, small way.
I would be of the same opinion if the food thing hadn't been confirmed.

Anyway, we are going to see more of Kizaru in the future, so he Isn't done.

For now I will go with Kizaru, I expect Aokiji to eventually backstab BB when the moment is right and reveal he was still a marine this whole time.. you can not go from the good marine disciple of the hero to a crew member of the most ruthless pirate, it is a 180° moral wise. At worst he is done with the marines but when he realizes the true aim of BB he has a change of heart and does what is right, but this should have happened when his former mentor was defending his new disciple, so most likely he is on a mission. So until something like this happens and Aokiji is flashed out more I take Kizaru, interesting to see he followed his duties (almost) until the end by killing Vegapunk but had not the heart to sacrifice all the others so he helped Luffy.

Garp actively refuses to get promotions because he doesn't want to serve the CDs directly and yet you still think he was actually saving slaves at god valley
He straight up admitted he didn't give a shit what happened at god valley until he heard Roger was there and realized he had a chance at capturing Roger for once and for all.
And that somehow makes him morally clean?

Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

Sounds more interesting than being bootlickers to the most over the top evil people imaginable lol
Garp literally is that.

Not taking action when you have the power to stop atrocities is almost as bad as being a willing participant.

That’s why admiral fans don’t like Garp. He gets high horsed when he is just as much of piece of shit as everyone else, but the author incessantly glorifies individualistic characters no matter how evil they are.

It’s cringe.

Thats why Kuzans well loved. The difference is Garp tries to take the moral high ground as a marine when he does nothing more than a hypocrite preserving a status quo he doesn’t even like.

Kuzan at least believed in his personal justice to the point where he joined an organization where they’re all about personal freedom

Both BM and Kaido are poor characters
Neither are “objectively” poor characters, people just gets let down because of their higher expectations for a top-tier. BM is fleshed-out and one of the more interesting villains, although her being used as a plot device in Wano is disgustingly bad. That’s more of an example of a bad story writing though lol. She’s still a pretty cohesive character, she was always dumb to begin with. Still had a great character conclusion with all things considered.
Oda is sexist, nothing new. I unironically think that BM is one of his best written female characters lmfao. He just handled her poorly come Wano.

Even then, her final moment had good writing with how she was still portrayed as this unbeatable force, her inner dialogue was also pretty good talking about Roger. The way that nobody can hear her in her final moments was a good parallel to when she can’t hear Mother Carmel’s pleas for help… she received a poetic justice type of end.

Overall, she has one of the best handled final moments, way more interesting than Kaido having a lame mini-flashback and thinking about Joyboy for example.

Garp hates pirates too much to just straight up leave the Marines through.
He has to take the good with the bad, he'll support the Marines even though they actively aid the CDs and in return he gets a good outlet to take down countless pirates.

I expect no less of a Shanks fan

Which is fine, but I think him taking such a moral high ground about the CDs is just hypocritical because he’s actively defending them.

I wouldn’t be so annoyed by it if it wasn’t for his disapproval of Dragon who isn’t a pirate and created an army that actively is fighting the celestial dragons.

Or if Garp tried to use his name recognition to actively cause change in the world government that he straight up dislikes. But he doesn’t instead he just uses it to bring more people into an army that defends them.

That’s why I really don’t like Garp (and don’t really care for Fuji) but like Kuzan because Kuzan actually put his money where his mouth was.
