When Kaido comments on Zoro’s asura, Zoro is confused and has no idea what Kaido is talking about.

Zoro himself has no idea that he has conquerors haki or even that conquerors haki can be used offensively.

This is very odd, considering that he was trained by Mihawk for the better part of two years.

Did Mihawk know? And if so why did he never tell Zoro?

If he didn’t know, did he think Zoro’s potential was so high that he could teach his level without it?

It seems very strange that Mihawk would never comment or recognize conquerors in Zoro given that he is “clairvoyant.”

You got it here. Mihawk never saw Ashura

people are assuming Zoro fought mihawk, when Oda has never said that

what Oda said was that Zoro lost his eye due to how hard Mihawk’s training was… that’s it… people assume “Mihawk’s training” is code for an actual fight with Mihawk, it’s not.

the reason Oda made sure Mihawk never saw Ashura is so that Ashura can defeat him… Oda has made it clear that NO ONE in the OP universe knows what Ashura is… this is intentional because it makes no sense for Mihawk to lose to Zoro yet he has like 100 times the battle experience Zoro has… The only way Mihawk can lose, is if he is fighting an ability he has never seeen a single person ever use.

mihawk has never seen Ashura. Mihawk has not fought Zoro since East blue. Oda did this so that Mihawk can be caught off guard by Ashura and have no way of defending himself when they fight EoS since no one else in the OP universe has anything even resembling Ashura or knows what it even is.

Not a Mohawk Stan but

This is just being a good master. You don’t want to tell him about it or it will change his perspective and attitude towards it. It has to be something you unlock and utilize naturally or by imitation through effort in order to be truly powerful. Mihawk trained him similarly to how Rayleigh trained Luffy, only with techniques he basically already knew, knowing that Haki blooms in the midst of battle. “Fight strong opponents, reach as deep inside yourself as you can, force yourself to new heights through whatever means necessary, and do what comes naturally” is way more effective for what Zoro wants to accomplish. Knowing he had conquerors just gave Mihawk even more confidence to train him this way knowing that he would discover it when he is being pushed to his limits.

Mohawk probably knew he had CoC when he described his “ferocity” in East Blue and decided to spare him.
