Tou army underestimated the enemy by great margin here, because these movements doesn't seem coming from an Experienced army. They are panicking, anxious and worried for their General Tou when he's always the one to fight at the head of an army.

Can't really be helped though. Having these long drawn-out battles isn't really viable for Hara anymore.

The good thing though is that these shorter battles are more palatable on re-read. You get something much more concentrated like Hango.

The only thing worthy to wait out for is Riboku’s death and how it is handled, after that it's time to pack it up.
