Most cities are not prepared for disasters.

Coastal cities are highly vulnerable to rising sea levels yet we see continuous expansion of cities.

We aren't prepared for EQs, Tsunamis and massive volcanic eruptions, radioactive fallouts.

It seems we only learn after disasters strike.


Kudos to Japan here - most disaster resilient country

Yeah probably,but german laws about free speech (there is none in Germany) are fucked up. So fuck them. You can say many bad things about America,but they have true freedom of speech.

Sea level rise won't happen suddenly. Sea expansion in volume and consequent rising is long term phenomenon

And, we have habit of not worrying much about events which aren't immediate or in near future.


But what we do know is there are other disasters which can strike us at any minute

I once experienced 8 magnitude EQ. Shit was scary. My whole bed was violently shaking.

Our building standards, disaster mitigation efforts, evacuations and relief works aren't good enough.

And, worse is we still house chemicals in residential blocks illegally which are ticking bombs

Good thing the only disasters possible in South America are floodings, land slides and wild fires. Quakes and Hurricanes must be scary as fuck.
