Manga Discussion Spy x Family

I have had the feeling for a while that Donovan knew, or at least suspected, that Loid is a spy but let him come near him to see how good he was as a spy and how far he would go to get close to him and also to get to know Loid's plans better. Keep your enemy close.
Yep! There is a reason why Donovan didn't go after Loid other than of course plot.

It also raises the question of what is behind Anya's horns, remembering Donovan's scars.

It's also surely part of why Damian didn't seem to fully reject the idea of Anya really reading people's minds even if he claimed otherwise.

So if Donovan does have the ability to read minds I wonder if it is underdeveloped. While his interaction with Loid could go either way I feel like he was not able to fully read Loid's mind. Other than plot what would be the point of not sending people to handle the spy? Maybe there is a plot twist coming and Desmond is a traitor to the government and that is why he didn't blow Loid's cover yet?

The way I see it, Donovan might either be über paranoid and not even believe himself as in "am I really hearing this or am I imagining this because I am used to seeing betrayal everywhere" or he might be hiding his ability because of fear to be crushed by his own government, that's why he doesn't just go accusing people but tries to find actual evidence and such.

We'll see. It's a great plot turn in any case!

Definitely, it was a great chapter. You know it's a good chapter when it makes you go revisit old chapters scrounging for clues.

Do you think that Donovan will have a special henchman, someone to do his dirty work from behind the scenes and protect him against individuals such as Loid or Yor when normal bodyguards can't ?
Won't be surprised if he does. Otherwise, when shit inevitably hits the fan, Yor going supernova once would smite him out of existence. There should someone, or maybe even some people, among his bodyguards who are freakishly strong to make sure Yor has a challenge.

I'm not ready for Anya's full backstory, but when we do get it, it's going to be really sad.:catcry:

I'm also wondering who the true main villain of this series is, we know Donovan is the main villain, but I don't believe he is the true main villain.

I've seen some people theorize that the true main villain is Leonardo Hapoon, who kind of looks like the same scientist that helped experiment on Anya and Bond.

If Donovan has telepathy it's possible Leonardo used what he learned from his experiments on him. We will need to see a little bit more from Leonardo before I elevate him as "MV", he has had such a minor role so far in the story. IMO the final villain should be someone in the government someone who can cause war between the east and west, someone who is a danger to the success of Operation Strix.

Endo really did a better world-building in literally 5 pages than Lolda did in months with Vegaprank's yapping. :suresure:

I think Donovan is indeed the main villain, but there will be other characters that have to be dealt with in order to stop Donovan down.

Regarding who could be the end game villains, i have a feeling about WISE, the spy agency Twilight works for, seems like the "good side" because they want peace.

But what if their higher ups are corrupt and they have a hidden agenda?

Twilight might eventually realize that the people he trusted are just as ruthless as the enemies he fights, forcing him to choose between following orders or doing what he believes is truly right.

I think Twilight is neither gullible nor careless enough to work for an institution that actively makes the world worse, hidden agenda or otherwise.

Not saying WISE is a grouping of saints, but Twilight's flashback does hint that he is quietly working under WISE to achieve his own personal goal (world peace).

Anya got that rizz and Damian jealous arc begins.
Anya Forgerizz is real. Damian Desmondone stands no chance. :funky:

Tbh, I would like a surprise there, with Donovan not necessarily being the BBEG, but rather an agent of chaos.

I mean, if Melinda is right and he can read people's minds, Twilight is cooked, he already met Donovan and had his spy thoughts. So either Donovan doesn't have that power, has it and doesn't care that Twilight is after him, or has it as well as his own agenda and kinda needs Twilight as well.
