Upgradation of swords yes but it's haki which he actually focusing on learning.

Did sanji focus on learning haki? We got direct connection with science when it comes to him - his family, exoskeleton getting unlocked whereas with zoro we got haki training.

You can't deny there is clear choice of different path being taken by oda
