Fact of the manga is that Oda just wrote that Gaban is the left hand man of the pirate king and equal to him and Ray. If Luffy is Roger and Zoro is Ray than it's simply over.

If Roger, Rayleigh and Gaban truly are equal then Luffy, Zoro and Sanji should be equals by the end of the manga.

Can't really make the claim that Sanji has always been Luffy's equal with a straight face. Things would need to change.
