Says who? Whitebeard gets compared to Roger, not the other way round. You talking about fame? Roger doesn't even get any in-verse credit for beating his greatest opponent.

Shanks/Mihawk is tricky, so I wont go deeper into that one. But Gaban? Are you kidding me? You don't get compared to the GOAT just because some nobodies said something. Man has to build his CV over many portrayals/feats and chapters - then we can talk.

Arlong and Jinbe stuff was very early in the series back when was powerscaling was iffy (Crocodile, Dorry and Broggy ending up looking much weaker than they were), 50 volumes before Jinbe proper introduction. Roger and Rayleigh are fully etablished characters and were introduced before Gaban, where they stand in term of power is clear in Oda's mind.

1- nothing can top old Rayleigh stoping non nerfed kizaru without dementia.

G5 luffy couldn't put a nerfed kizaru down for good and his g4 got one shotted. in the end kizaru had to brink him food to save luffy.

This put Old Ray=non nerfed Kizaru>>nerfed kizaru=Egghead Luffy.

2-Ray stop Blackbeard (unless Gaban beat shamrock or has same effect Ray has on blackbeard he arent beating this hype).

We saw Rayleigh clearly stating that he couldn't possibly be able to take on Teach.

I'd say Scopper and Rayleigh have more expertise than the Yonko in battle probably, but the physical strength of like YC1/very slightly sub admiral. But then again...they are retired, there were probably long phases going for them where they haven't involved themselves in any high stake battles, so they probably are rusty and were not properly able to maintain their prime-powerlevels.

In addition, Gaban with the help of all the giants couldn't stop Loki but Shanks could and Shanks is inferior to Kaido.

This chapter alone has given a ranking of Shanks > Loki > prime Gaban


In the grand scheme it would be Roger > Oden>/= Kaido >Shanks > Loki > Prime Gaban. I don't see how someone on that level would be equal to Roger in strength

Every translation that came out, even the people breaking down the raws say nearly the exact same thing. Any commentary over that is irrelevant to me.
