What are your main points? That Gaban is equal to Rayleigh and Roger? That he's a near equal? All I took away from it was Gaban was one of Roger's top two men alongside Rayleigh. I am not saying it's like Jimbei and Arlong or Shanks and Buggy. Yes, it's strength related because Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban were the strongest of the Roger Pirates, but there's nothing in there about them being equals.
I think you just summed up my points

You’re half right. I’m a Luffy fan. I’m not a Sanji hater though. I’m a feats first person. I’m also a Zoro fan. Just not a delusional one.

Viz ain't saints dude, they have done things like this recently related to a conversation between Shamrock and Loki

This is sandman's translation and interpretation

I believe myself that the logic behind VIZ translating "Alongside/Along with" to "After" lies on the fact that Rayleigh was the already known subject in the conversation, while Gaban was being introduced in the moment of their speech, so "after" Rayleigh, we get Gaban. Anyways, "alongside/along with" makes way more sense, since it matches perfectly with the "Right Arm" and "Left Arm" concept (and i believe that was the whole point Oda wanted to make here), since it doesn't establishes an hierarchy, but says that they were "especially strong aside from Roger himself" and were "legendary figures shoulder to shoulder with Roger"

By the way, thats how Japanese readers are interpreting the whole thing, interesting

No but I have google and can look up the general use of words? Theres also multiple Japanese readers on the site itself like @PuckTheGreat

The word for behind doesn’t exist in the Japanese btw. Thats Stephen Paul taking liberties like he did with Mother Frame
Yup, there is no ‘after’ in the original text. It was Stephen’s addition based on whatever (assumption he made/preconceived notion he had). Can somewhat understand his reasoning but yes it’s him taking liberties.

You're a troll

A sanji hater

Trusting Viz as if Viz is the gospel
They make mistakes
Stephen Paul adds his own stuff

In the raws there's no word "after"
You are trusting him fully cause "official translator"
Even when Japanese who understands the language better are saying something else

Nah. If you put the statements in context, it's very clear that they are talking about power. Maybe not specifically in the "alongside Rayleigh" part, but definitely in the "shoulder to shoulder" part.

The entire buildup of the dialogue rests on the fact that there was a third member of the crew who was monstrously strong, in addition to Roger and Rayleigh. And then the giants tell a story about how Gaban's power got him his epithet, and finally end their speech right as Gaban is about to take a fight. Context matters.

When they say "shoulder to shoulder," they are emphasizing power. Obviously, Gaban is not as famous as Roger or Rayleigh and to pretend that the "shoulder to shoulder" part refers to notoriety or infamy is disingenuous.

DonWick is big Luffy fan, disguises himself as Zoro fan but shits on Zoro most of the time and absolutely despises and shits on Sanji all the time.

It is interesting that all Zoro fans think they know Japanese better than Japanese, also viz or any other western media can't be trusted cause they always have an agenda.
