Gaban uses a named attack that unleashes a barrage of slashes. Luffy effortlessly dodges them, and we see some reactions from the onlookers. Meanwhile, Zoro steps in to block one of the slashes to protect Luffy. Then, Luffy transforms into Gear 5, which implies that Gaban had already seen the future where he would one-shot gaban lmao.

Luffy is insanely strong. Gaban is on par with Rayleigh, who made Blackbeard literally piss his pants, yet Gaban had to give up almost immediately. Luffy is on a completely different level. Of course, this makes sense when even the Five Elders can’t do anything to Luffy except make him smile.

Now, imagine Gaban vs. the Five Elders, you already know how that would end.

3) ACoC is literally denoted the power of the strongest and exists as one of the most major power-ups in the manga. Downplaying it makes zero sense. If Luffy isn't using it or G5 then he's not a top-tier - simple as that.

Not sure why people are playing dumb acting ACoC isn't as insane as it is lmao. If your boy Gaban is as strong as you think he is then he should be able to handle even ACoC Luffy. I've always said that's Luffy and Blackbeard's strongest parallel and BB's greatest argument for him being the final villain

BB is treated identically to Luffy

Oda never goes out of his way to openly embarrass characters like Shanks or Kaido but loves doing it with Luffy and Blackbeard

It makes Blackbeard feel like more of an "underdog" and main character if that makes sense. He also makes progress unlike other characters around his age that have stagnated

Openly embarrass character is who end up winning in the end .
