Character Discussion Aokiji Is Akainu’s Equal In Terms Of Character And Plot Relevance

#22
That would be risky because he’s popular among the marines including Sengoku who recommended Kong to make him a fleet admiral.
This is too convoluted I think. Don't you think they wanted Akainu to kill him?

Also, I believe the Akainu Kuzan fight being simple as what we were told has been semi confirmed by Kuzan in his flashback with the Blackbeard pirates

Ah, forgot about that theory then.

Letting him go alive is out of character so that’s why I thought WG ordered him to kill him for knowing Imu as the panel implies.
I think its most likely that Akainu didn't really think much about Kuzan, because from his perspective Kuzan did kill Saul and he didn't know about him sparing Robin. So in his mind Kuzan is probably just a lazy guy, but at the end of the day he's probably killed a lot of pirates.

I love Kuzan, but Lee I'm not putting any character as equal or stronger to Akainu. Not Kaidou, Not BB. Not Shanks. Not Aokiji.

As for plot and importance Aokiji will play, definitely agree. Oda wouldn't have sacrificed Garp to Aokiji otherwise. Feeding an old legend, that too an Hero of Marines, Roger equal, Luffy Grandfather, that means a lot. Oda also included him in the race for PK, he's definitely going to play a key role.

This is the only uninterrupted top tier fight in the entire series which actually had an outcome. The winner was Akainu. He then became FA while Kuzan lost a limb and became a YC after wandering for months.

Now, there's not much of a difference between them, for they are, relative. But no they're not equals. Equals would be Roger who didn't have a winner between him and Garp. We got a definitive winner and the only winner between an uninterrupted top tier fight in the series. They're relatives, not equals.

Akainu is stronger. That's all there is to it. Maybe it be by a strand of hair but he is stronger.

And I'm willing to wager that the gap between the two has increased since Kuzan's will probably got weaker after he left the marines and pointlessly wandered till he joined Blackbeard while Sakazuki got narrative buff by becoming FA and making the marines the strongest it was.

Akainu extreme diffs Aokiji every day of the month and no matter how long the fight takes, the winner will never change.

I honestly think Akainu and Kuzan are meant to be closer then Roger and Garp. It doesn't seem like there was ever a 1 on 1 prime Garp and Roger fight in the same way. It seems more like Garp had been chasing him through the years but Roger always escaped. When Roger finally ended his pirate career, he let himself be taken in.

If anything , it got stronger
Kuzan has a purpose now , he is out of his comfort zone and he is pretty determined .

So determined that he was willing to fight his former master for it
Bro didn't understand shit.
Oda even spelled it out in the latest SBS that Kuzan can now pursue his own brand of justice, without being subordinated to BB, and here GalaxyLVLbrainfarts is all "nah, Kuzan is weakwilled now, hurrdurr"

I don’t doubt Kuzan got stronger. He’s stronger than he was pre ts but there was a period where he wasn’t doing much before he joined the BBP and wasn’t determined to do stuff. I expect Akainu to have increased the gap between them in that timespan

Two near equals fighting on different sides of the law to uphold justice

Wuzans going to end this manga a legend.
Kuzan will not go down as an enemy. I dropped that now. He's dying for the good side most likely.

The Bar scene with him showing guilt because of Ohara and Robin was a tease.
