I think Gaban is basically the baseline top tier haki guy: Stat wise very versatiled, good fighting style, advCoC and basic FS.

The more we go on the deeper the ability pool will become: sword shenanigans, higher CoC powerlevels, abnormal lvls of base strength and DF abilities as a synergetic component, advanced haki blast applications, WiFi haki, greater FS, different fighting styles..

It's like a catalog Oda can pick from in order to put together his different top tiers.
I've said it before but base Kaido was already a high ceiling for a guy like Gaban as he's physically (much) stronger and faster, while he already had the basic top tier haki set down aswell.
His blunt force AP was just shit, that's where Gaban has him. But Kaido with an Axe would have ended the story anyway, so..

There are for sure levels, but then we can agree that Gaban's cannot be compared to some haki said to be crude and clumsy by Kaido.

As for the rest, sure, ideally we need feats, but we have very, very, very big and heavy statements that we surely didn't get for Yamato and that maybe we could have for pre-Nika Luffy.
Or would you see Yamato compared to Roger and Ray prime?

I wasn't comparing Gaban's ACoC with 1010 Luffy's - my only point was that you can't judge a character's strength by their toolkit alone. Otherwise, 1010 Luffy would be even stronger than Gaban as he has ACoC, FS, ID CoA and a strong DF.

I already said I think prime Gaban was top-tier - if you ask me, I'd place him next to current Big Mom.
