Popularity polls are done by OP fans who worship the ground oda walks on and still think this is a good story. Popularity means nothing when discussing writing.

Remove Zoro From early introduction and entire popularity of one piece Drops initially.
Also Zoro is one of the first characters introduced and he’s really cool so from the start, he attracts people and stays along for the ride so they’re less likely to let him go as their favourite character as opposed to someone who appears later but isn’t as prevalent.
Really? We had , Rayleigh , Marco and Katakuri. All of them were pretty Solid characters and Attracted way more attention than Average Strawhats.
Only problem arises here is Screentime.
That's why you will barely see character with great character go invisible.
Zoro was a great character pre-TS who regressed into a non character post-TS who’s practically a Luffy glazer and an aura farmer. It’s sad considering he was phenomenal at one point in terms of writing but oda is a fraud so oh well

Yes pre time skip zoro Laughed more , had more gags , and post time skip one is more of stoic characters, And again it boils down to what people actually prefer.
He was Aura farmer back in pre time skip as well.
Luffy glazing was done much more in pre time skip than post time skip. You're contradicting yourself.
I don't know if I would ever call Zoros writing "phenomenal" at any point in the story, but it's certainly regressed after the skip
His character isn't Regressed rather everything is about Nika glazing now.

Zoro is boring af man. He's just another lackey Yonkou underling at the end of the day. He'll say some edgy things here or there but then he'll neatly fall into his lackey role, then he will have a shitty choreographed choppy swordfight ending with a corny one liner. So tired of this.
An interesting Yonkou underling right now is Kuzan. He's his own man.
There's clearly a Bias here , but this entire thread was about Individual Opinions.
Because Kuzan practically has done jackshit being a Yonkou Commander. He did more while being an Admiral.
If you're qouting Mysterious here , Benn and Shiryu takes the stage.
