I think the main issue with the fruit is that the ability to make islands float would basically make the flood irrelevant. But it's more of a present problem which is why I don't think Shiki will ever be present in the present story but Oda is more comfortable with featuring him in flashbacks.
For characters like him I headcanon they died of heart attack and the movies are alternate timelines

On another note @Fujishiro I’m glad Oda didn’t continue to pile dirt on to Whitebeard’s corpse, Xebec really doesn’t physically look much like Blackbeard imo outside of his crazy ass eyes. Whitebeard saves himself from looking like an even bigger idiot than the Oden flashback made him appear.

Rocks D Xebec is exactly as he's been portrayed in the stories and dialogues from other characters. Even Oda's silhouette was on point............

And honestly might be up there in terms of hairstyles in the series depending on the color

I know feat wise kid and law are mid at best. I mostly scale off portrayal though because odas characters feats and their strengths rarely align
