Blackbeard used a move called dark water vs Luffy that had tendrils (like tentacles) too.
The black holes could be whirlpools (ironically burned mark man has a blackship and causes whirlpools somehow) and the sea abyss does have the most dangerous and thus pressure resistant creatures/monsters, the biggest too. Extreme underwater pressures that would easily crush us to death instantly too, no wonder he has black hole-like powers too.
Ngl if Blackbeard had the water logia this whole time I'd laugh and be so happy.

Possible....
God Valley had shanks as well. So, it's likely that there was something over there that piqued interests of both xebec and IMU....
Something which both found it important to have it...
I doubt it was ancient weapon....
One is with wano

And, based on Gorosei talks of cleansing, it feels they are doing it for a very long time so perhaps they always had ancient weapon as well.
