Kuzan is pretty much an impossible match up since he likely won't be a member of the BB Pirates by the time that showdown happens

And yeah finding an opponent for Loki in that situation would be impossible. SanJuan Wolf got oneshot effortlessly by Garp

Oda also said Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world. He uses semantics to exaggerate exposition for certain characters. But im sure you're aware of this. Loki being hyped as no one could stop him is supposed to establish him a handful. But to imply Gaban couldn t defeat if he even wanted to is a disingenuous statement because it has implications that there's that much of a gap between Old Gaban and Shanks is hilarious.

Why didn't Oda have him out right state directly he couldn't beat him when he tried or a "not even me" would have done it.

I think the most straight forward interpretation narratively is that Shanks is impartial since he has no ties to Elbaf outside of Gaban himself so he can assert himself against Loki without guilt.

It nearly killed him and forced him into a cyborg, we can't scale that. This is as bad as the hakai feat


Loki jumped/fell into the underworld twice and was fine both times.

Using strength feats isn't an accurate assessment of a characters qualification for the crew. Jinbe was seen as stronger than Luffy and the wings for his entire recruitment.

Yes Luffy showed interest. But he also did it in the context of forcing Harjudin to free Loki, there's layers to this.

If he repeatedly asks for Loki then sure, you can probably argue Loki has more going for him than Yamato at least.

Im at the point where I don't think the weakling Trio will show any significant haki until climax of the final battle or some post story wrap up. So youre free to use that but with what we've seen from the Elders and God Knights, Luffy and co. will need more fire power in the immediate ranks to even out. But haki in the new world is such a common thing now, I think using who has haki and who doesn't feels like a pre time skip thing, but have at it.

I believe Oda will mix up the BB vs SH outside of Luffy, Zoro and Ussop match up. I dont think Loki fights him imo.

My guy, nowhere is it directly stated Gaban couldn't stop Loki or anyone else In the world for that matter. That is your comprehension of his statement just like my own. So I guess we're at a standstill?

Gaban thought the idea of Loki getting free was a bad idea and explained it was because Loki rampaged 6 years ago and it took Shanks to stop him. The moment he was sure Luffy(and his crew cause of Zoro) could handle Loki, Gaban let them go. How else is anyone supposed to take that? Lol

And the argument that Loki needs to join for firepower falls apart when you acknowledge the fact that Luffy has allies, and always had allies in big battles. Even top officers of the big bad fell to non-SHs, and we've seen their forces take losses before the big battle. Unless some believe the SHs are gonna fight alone for some reason?

He didn't tho? Jinbei didn't actually join until Onigashima when Luffy was definitively above him and Zoro and Sanji were getting power ups that would do the same in the same arc.

Zoro and Sanji are not getting the power ups required to upsurge Loki in a single arc. In the past I would have said just Zoro would surpass him, but since we're supposed to treat the wings as equals then it applies to both of them.

Let's assume Loki is yonkou level. I don't think he would be above this as of now.
