A devil fruit is an instant power boost and some of them are good enough to shoot you straight to competent New World Pirate tier

I wouldn't be very skilled with a sword imo
And some swords are dangerous to use and take too much effort, i.e Enma and on a lesser note Shusui.
Overall they're just weapons that regular human fodders can't use or use at their full potential, while Devil Fruits are far different.
I'd take a Devil Fruit over a sword, typically, unlike it's some dog shit like Chopper's fruit ofc

DF obviously, swords require an insane amount of training + Haki mastery to not be fodder, the right DF can make you a high tier near instantly

Personally i would combine a good zoan preferably mythical with a named blade. My combination will be Byakko white tiger plus Murakumogiri since i can attack from long distance.

Have to go with df....any type of df would be handy in real life unlike swords which would require training+ haki

Haki only does make you hit harder in the end. With fruits you are basically a mage.
