Blackbeard went for Gura Gura no mi to replicate Xebec.

  • First, Xebec Swordsmanship
    • It creates Powerful Shockwaves.
  • Second, what does Gura Gura no mi do?
    • It creates Powerful Shockwaves/vibrations.
  • Similarities
    • Xebec and Whitebeard/Blackbeard
      • Whitebeard/Blackbeard
      • Kaidou / Bigmom
      • Xebec
      • Dorry and Broogy
All the above are the Strong " Shockwaves " attacks.

  • So far, only Xebec Attack seems Hakified. His Haki was needed to keep up with the Monster physique people there.
All the Rocks pirates were inspired by Xebec, and followed his fighting Style to some extent.

And in the end, this is all a part of " Elbaf Swordsmanship ".

  • Zoro Shockwave Attack
  • Roger and Shanks Kamasuri
  • Garp and Sengoku / Coby
It's really all fuckin shockwaves in the end.

It's just categorised differently.

Somehow Law and Blackbeard Clash makes more sense now. It was Shockwaves only in the end.

Shockswaves that pulverise are obviously better than a cutting attack I think. Like if Zoro could do what big mom and Dorry/Broggy does he would have smashed Pika to pieces and tossed his ass out of the bad cage. I think Zoro though is too refined of a swordsman.

I think the whip/cannon like effect we see with Shanks/Roger/Xebec etc is a result of having great power (and haki) and nor proper sword training. Like Oden is a monster but he was always a cutting type swordsman coz of his background as a samurai which for sure included some type of Dojo training.

Yes, shockwaves are the pinnacle. It is there to showcase raw power, and impact. Pretty basic shounen stuff, it’s kind of like One Piece’s version of ki blasts.

I’ve been preaching for years how busted Law is, his shockwaves have a unique element of lethality to it. That’s why Big Mom singled it out as a dangerous technique. You saw how Roger’s attacks look less impressive in comparison to the effects of Shock Wille.

Each Type of Attack has it's Use, when you look at Zoro Fights for example, sometimes He needs Shockwave, sometimes He needs Cutting, sometimes He needs Drilling/Piercing ... etc so it's not about which Type is Superior, what matters is what Fuels it (Your Power),

However, the real question is, why are a lot of those Legends into Shockwaves? (Even Garp & Sengoku & many Others)
You already Mentioned the Answer, this Type of Attacks is considered like "Spear of Elbaph",
That means it Originates from "Elbaph" himself whose Fighting Style involves Shockwaves using his Spear (He is obviously their Odin),

So all these Fighting-Styles you mentioned & more are just Variations & Attempts to Copy God of Elbaph (Regardless if Intended or Not),
He is One Piece's God of War & probably Original King of All Giants (What Hajrudin wants to Become whose Signature Technique is Gungnir...),

Since He is based on Odin, then He is probably our Eye-Patch Man, and Candidate for Final Villain more than Imu or BB imo.

The opposite
Nothing we seen from Roger or xebec or wb doing more damage in one hit than what Oden did to kaido.

That's cause we have not sin a definitive conclusive fight at that level. But think about it, Oden/Zoro could chop of your arm and if your are lucky the limb could be reattached like Law. An ikoku variety type of attack would likely shutter and blow a way the entire arm. At least that's what the giants did and also big mom against King Baum.

How would Kaido know WB is on par with other 4, better than all those others who didnt make it into his top 5, if he didnt fight WB?
As I said, pursue logic and truth and let go of agendas.
Kaido was supposedly having a PTSD from the weakest of the 5... Does that sound logical to you?
