What was the last movie you watched?

You can always watch both kind of films that you describe.

Not watching indie films is just lack of curiosity.

Also you should definitely watch films about political and historical events for instance.

For instance the original film Alien by Ridley Scott is one my favorite films. It's definitely a blockbuster, pure horror entertainment and also one of the greatest anti-capitalistic films that I have seen. Probably the best sci-fi film ever.
Oh don't worry, I love a good indie movie. I watched hundreds of them when I was young. But in my current state, I need adventure stories to the maximum or my mind will just shut down.

I love Alien. An amazing political movie too! I wouldn't say it's the best, but it's in the top 20 definitely.

Superman was pretty much almost perfect
Indeed. Seen it's multiple times (which is saying a lot in my condition). And it's one of the most political super-hero movies, so it's a very good thing.

You need to watch auteur films a hundred times more !

Adventure films doesn't make one reach catharsis.

Of course it does. Don't underestimate the genre. Auteur movies are good, but they are not special over everything else in that aspect.

Also, there are hundreds of auteur movies among adventure movies. The last one I saw for example : Superman, is one of the biggest auteur movie in the entire Super-Heros genre.

Do not think that because I watch adventure movie or prefer normie stuff, I don't have a very sharp eyes in cinematography. I love and find beauty in the entire spectre of Cinema.

Well I guess people can catharsis differently.

Yup completely, some people prefer horror, others more indie movies, other prefer documentaries or reality shows.. We all have different way of dealing with emotion and beauty.

I love the thrill of adventure, especially because it's the polar opposite of my situation. It heals me and keeps me alive. Some are very bad and I laugh about it, some are amazing and I talk about it, and some are masterclass and I obsess over it.

Reality shows are silly though

Kizaruber Eats

Lobster Pain and Zoidberg the GOATS
Rewatched Superhero Movie, absolutely hilarious, even funnier than I remember. Even my mum was finding it very laugh out loud at times, I was really surprised.

Leslie Nielsen is brilliant in it too naturally as well as the actor for the main villain.

Watching the Knuckles series atm too.

I tried watching the Knuckles series too but I think it would be better after I see the Sonic movies

"They can cut through diamonds."
-"I'm not wearing any diamonds!"

Is one of the funniest comedy exchanges in this century along with Scary Movie 3's "I'll need a ride home" from the guy that just ran over your wife lmaoo

What's an auteur movie?
"director who has unbounded artistic control over their film, resulting in a distinctive personal style and thematic signature across their body of work"

but I disagree, some directors are auteurs but they have some limits over their own movies

Many directors had no control over which scenes made it into the film, which ones were cut, the exact order in which the scenes would appear, etc.

but according with this definition they couldnt be considered auteur, but they obviously were auteur

I tried Knuckles.. but I couldn't finish it.. I felt like the serie was talking me like I was a baby (and I love watching the new pokemon anime so this is saying a lot)

What's an auteur movie?
It means "authors movies"
It's a french concept that means that the movie comes from the hearth of the director, that it is his vision. Much like a director's cut but stronger.

This is something very important in France as this was a very thoughtfull concept of the "nouvelle vague" a french period of cinema in the sixties. We have a lot of independant movies that gain attention that way since our way of producing movie is completely different from the American system.

> The American system puts the producers on top when the French system tends to puts the Directors. (there are pros and cons to both systems)

It's nuanced, in the US, the best movies are usually also authors movies. For a long time there has been a lot of gatekeeping by cinephiles and movies critics around the terms of "authors", but with the rise of Internet, and the fact that we can know analyze movie with a broader lens, the definition was enlarged and you could say that even movies like Transformers from Michael Bay are in some ways, authors movies.

You will notice that the movie on which people talk the most about are also authors movies (man of steel / Superman 2025 etc.)

but the movie critics of cahiers, like godard, considers the hollywood directors who work in the american system as auteur as I said earlier
I'm saying that because some people could think that the hollywood movies from golden age has less artistic importance because there were no auteur there

but you are not wrong, the directors were not in the control over the montage of the film, and that is the reason the cahiers critics said that the artistic heart of a movie is the mise en scene (because it is what left for the directors)
