Yes it wouldve been, it was a suicide attempt from him. Doesnt change a thing about how he would fare as an individual (In Garps mind that is, as he called him the King). You seem to forget that WB was massively weakened, diseased and couldnt even use haki properly as when he tried to use CoC he literally had a heart attack.
Character assassination happened with the Wano stuff. But explain to me why would WB go after Garp when he stated last chapter he wanted to save Shakky. Was Garp holding Shakky captive?

But the biggest shocker is Whitebeard downscale to non-prime BM and Kaido level
unlike duo mf had ACoC and Gura and still RAN away from Garp in a 1v3 he was close to if not in his prime. WB's equal man Dodger running away from prime BM is so real now

Someone can straight up say they place Garp ahead of WB and they would be justified. These titles never applied to Marines, nor are they 1v1 guarantees, I've always told people this. They are hype tool descriptors for larger than life pirates. Oda is now showing us the biggest event in Old Gen history and he has made it obvious to the readers that Garp is 1A side while WB is 1B. The conclusion cannot be WB >= Garp, I'm fine with just calling these dudes relative and leaving it at that.
