Character Discussion Was Ace a good character?

Just as the title says, do any of you believe he was a good character? If so, why? What traits did he have that you enjoyed? Did you like his fruit and how he used it? In what ways could he have been better?
If someone asked me, I'd say he's definitely not my favorite but I do like him and think he's an enjoyable character.

His story made sense. An orphan with daddy issues who was always destined to have short life because of his hot head and lack of impulse control.
It was his own mistake that he died. He wasted the sacrifices of his captain and pseudo father whitebeard and his friends over a petty insult though it was in character of him to do so. I suppose we can say he served his purpose.

Ace is a fine character, not particularly amazing but his story worked as a cautionary tale: a literal hotheaded pirate who chased revenge despite everyone around him telling him not to and paid the ultimate price as a result.

Now Sabo? That's an actual bottom-of-the-barrel dogshit character.

Worse character than Vergo. Oda made Ace as a failed Vergo.
Ace found out the traitor in Whitebeard Pirates, Teach but got defeated by the traitor.
Vergo found out the traitor in Donquxiote Family, Corazon and successfully captured him.

Ace is a great character, who had a great death. I feel it takes a certain lvl of maturity to appreciate his final moments. Oda did really well with him.

Sabo should have never been a thing, it cheapens his death a bit.

If you hate Ace solely for this it’s shallow thinking, but what Ace did is nothing praiseworthy and shows immaturity.
The context is important here, Ace disrespected his father and the thousands of comrades who shed blood and died for his sake. He let his emotions get the best of him because of some cheap talk, and the results were catastrophic for him, his father, family and friends. Hell if Shanks hadn’t arrived it would’ve been the end for his entire crew and little brother too.
