Sanji is Oda’s most versatile character, there’s no one he couldn’t fight based on the fact they use swords. He’s faced all kinds of weapons.

The dude fights Zoro every chance he gets. :suresure:
That's not really the point, the point is that Sanji very rarely fights people with swords
So if someone says he's not fighting a character because they have a sword, it's not that he can't handle a fight against a swordsman, it's that he just barely ever fights them

That doesn't mean that he won't.

It certainly doesn't outweigh everything else.

Sanji and Laffitte have significant overlap.

I'd say Lafitte is one of three matchups that I can see Sanji having
The others are Burgess and Kuzan
But I suspect either Smoker or Koby will fight Kuzan.
The problem with Sanji vs Lafitte, is that Lafitte seems a lot more like a Brook opponent, imo. But honestly we need to see Lafitte's abilities and we need to see more of his personality. He hasn't done too much right now and he doesn't seem like a super strong fighter, more like a swift trickster (although Queen was also a bit of a trickster but he was still very powerful and had one of the most versatile movesets in the verse)

What has buff dumb guy Burgess to do with him?

A handful of Sanji opponents tend to be a little clownish (although still very strong) and sometimes get beat up by another character before fighting him. I.e Queen getting slammed by O-Lin.
Burgess fits that archetype of character, not to mention the person who beat his ass before was a dude with blonde hair and fire powers.
Also he's the 1st ship captain and one of the OG members of the crew.
This is all just pure speculation, though, Sanji may fight Lafitte instead. Who knows.

Hmm Funny Part isnt enough for me bc zolo had octupus and Giraffe guy

Pizarro has immense potential. Imagine fusing with redline and all. Don't know how it's an L for sanji fighting Pizarro. Even old garp's named attack didn't bring him down.
Pizarro merging with Red Line could make a ton of sense narratively because destroying Red Line might be the key to unite the seas and create All Blue. Another point in favor of Sanji vs Pizarro that actually has narrative significance. I can totally picture a giant version of Pizarro made of red rock with trees on his head, with Sanji having to overcome his (relative) weakness, which is AP, to destroy Red Line, defeat Pizarro and accomplish his dream.

Certainly makes more sense than Sanji fighting a guy just because he can fly or create illusions. :MonkeWhat:

Still no narrative significance in those things. Among all Sanji's former opponents, the only smart one was Queen, which was only the case because Queen being a scientist gave Oda the opportunity to explore Sanji's backstory and give him character development, so there was actual narrative significance here.

But Kuroobi, Bon Clay, Jabra or Wadatsumi weren't portrayed as bright individuals, so why Lafitte being smart should mean anything? Unless there's a potential narrative purpose that can somehow be tied to Sanji, it's irrelevant.
